The Mission & Approach
The Institute was designed to ensure that the goal of economic betterment of
the people is accomplished by a visible improvement in their social well-being.
Putting people at the center-stage, Institute pursues programmes of research,
training and action in the fields of social welfare and social development as
relevant to the poor, the weak and the disadvantaged in tribal, rural and urban
areas and empowers them to plan and implement their upliftment programmes
themselves. The Institute, equipped with its multidisciplinary faculty drawn
from social and development sciences with rich and long background, works in
collaboration with governmental, non-governmental and corporate sector
organizations to accomplish its objectives.
Expertise and Services Offered
i) Provides Platform. The Institute acts a platform for scientists,technocrats,
development experts and academicians sharing similar concern to plan and
implement programmes in their own interest areas.
ii) Offers Expertise: With its multidisciplinary regular and adjunct faculty,
the Institute offers its expertise in the following main areas:
- Rural, tribal and social development
- Project formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Planning and execution of field and research studies, surveys and collection and analysis of data.
- Organisation of seminars, conferences and workshops
- Planning,conducting and evaluating orientation and training programmes for officials,field/developmental Functionaries,representatives of non-governmental organisations and panchayati raj functionaries
- Preparation and publication of research and survey reports, books, and monographs.
